Perth Grammar School

Head Teacher's Welcome

Acting Headteacher, Martin Reid

Welcome to the Perth Grammar School website. We hope it provides the information you need and offers a genuine sense of the inclusive, learner‑centred community you will find here. Whether you are a regular visitor catching up on our parent bulletin, a prospective learner exploring your next steps, or someone considering joining our staff team, I trust you will find the site both informative and reflective of who we are.

At Perth Grammar, our core values - Pride, Respect and Ambition - shape everything we do. These values drive our commitment to ensuring every learner thrives: inspired in their learning, included in our community and ready for tomorrow. We aim to nurture young people as confident global citizens equipped with the skills, knowledge and attitudes they need for life, learning and work.

Our ethos, curriculum and daily interactions work together to place the learner firmly at the centre. We are a nurturing school, and our approach to relationship building is rooted in flexible consistency - supportive, predictable and responsive to the individual needs of every young person. This underpins the broad range of pathways we offer through the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), helping learners build portfolios of achievements that reflect their strengths, aspirations and identities.

A key part of enabling every learner to thrive is our staff team. Colleagues at Perth Grammar are engaged in a continual programme of professional learning, with a particular focus on high‑quality learning and teaching - keeping the main thing the main thing. This includes exploring how to inject fun and curiosity into learning across all contexts, helping young people remain motivated, challenged and enthusiastic as they progress through their school journey.

Our young people frequently tell us that it is the strength of relationships and the dedication of our staff that make Perth Grammar special. These relationships extend to the many industry and local partnerships we build and maintain, all of which help enrich and enhance the overall learning experience by offering additional opportunities, insights and real‑world connections for our learners.

We are a committed Rights Respecting School, holding Silver Award status, and we embed sustainability in meaningful ways - strengthened by our longstanding partnership with The Vine Trust in Tanzania. Our facilities further enhance learners’ experiences, including excellent sports provision with a stadium, running track and a climbing wall within our games hall.

The success of our school is built on collaboration - between pupils, parents, staff and the wider community. Together, we create the conditions in which young people can develop their talents, meet their ambitions and contribute positively to those around them. As an improving school recognised locally and nationally for our progress, we continue to strengthen our practice through our PGS5 features of high‑quality learning and teaching: effective communication, clear expectations, positive relationships, accessible learning and everyone engaged.

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Perth Grammar School. We look forward to continuing our journey together, ensuring every learner is inspired, included and ready for tomorrow.
