Volunteering at PDSA

Currently, the young volunteers at the PDSA shop in  Perth, give up their own time to volunteer in branch either for an hour after school or at weekends.  Many of the young volunteers are aiming to achieve recognised awards such as the popular Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Saltire Awards, both of which we support at the PDSA.

In addition to working towards awards, many students can gain work experience, build on new and existing skills and knowledge, and offer course social skills.  Volunteering also looks great on CV for future employment and further education applications.  The benefits and rewards from volunteering are countless and can include meeting and making new friends and  gaining life experience, while giving back to a cause that is close to the hearts - for us it is helping vets to save the lives of the beloved pets that are part of many families.

Volunteering can also build self confidence and esteem and this has been commented by parents of some of our young volunteers.  Volunteering with a variety of people from different backgrounds is great as you can learn so much from those around you.

Every volunteer has their own reasons for volunteering, but what is common is that volunteers are not worthless but indeed priceless by giving up their time for free to help support such a worthwhile cause.

Should any students be interested in volunteering opportunities the PDSA would love to hear from them.  Applications can be done via our website www.pdsa.org.uk, however, if anyone would like any further information then please do not hesitate to pop into the branch to discuss further or contact by phone on 01738 638905 or by email Perth.Shop@pdsa.org.uk
