Training Solutions (Scotland) as a learning provider works closely with Skills Development Scotland as an approved centre with SQA and currently works with many childcare providers and hospitality venues delivering the Modern Apprenticeship programme around the east area of Scotland, from Peterhead to Edinburgh and Aucterarder to Monifieth, with individual assessors allocated to specific areas.

The qualifications currently offered are SVQ level 3 Social Services (Children & Young People), helping those who wish to become fully qualified early years practitioners and SVQ Level 3 Hospitality Supervision and Leadership, beneficial to those working in the hospitality industry. The last year has seen a time of significant change at Training Solutions but with these changes we have updated and implemented new systems to help us work even more efficiently and continue to look forward to achieving goals with our candidates. This month we welcome to our portfolio, candidates from Little People Nursery in Dundee and Longforgan Nursery.

Training Solutions (Scotland) aims to meet the individual learning needs of each candidate by offering flexible training packs and personalised training programmes. We invite our candidates and managers to contact and discuss with us any individual requirements you may have.

What is YINI?

Who is YINI for?

YINI is open to any student with the Right to Work in the UK, who might be considering either;

  • An Apprenticeship

Most of our placements are in:  Science, Engineering, Technology or Maths

Smaller number in:  Business, Finance, IT, HR or Marketing

This is a new programme they are running aimed at school leavers but they are hoping to work alongside a charity called Auto Raise to start their own Youth Academy in House.


Ringlink (Scotland) Ltd: ‘Land-based Pre-Apprenticeship’ and ‘Shared Apprenticeship’ programmes, available for young people 16 years upwards.

A new WINTER INTAKE of the pre-apprenticeship has been launched this year and applications are open now until the 25th September!! 

Option 1 -  Land-based Pre-apprenticeship (6 months full-time work)

Applications are now open for our newly introduced Winter Intakeonly 8 places available with SRUC practical induction commencing on 14th January 2019. Work placements will run from end of January – end of July.

Apprenticeship rates of pay are £5 per hour, minimum 40hrs per week for 26 weeks with £1500 training fund for certificated training tickets.

Closing date: 25th September for the Winter Intake.

For the Summer Intake, 15 places will be available with candidates undertaking a 3 week practical induction at SRUC, Craibstone from mid-June – early July.

Work placements then follow for a period of 26 weeks working full-time from mid-July - early January. (can start later if preferred)

 Option 2 – Shared Apprenticeship (12 months full-time work, spread over two placements)

The Shared Apprenticeship differs from a standard apprenticeship as the young person gets to work in a minimum of two different businesses over the 12 month duration.

How does it work?

SRUC delivers the Modern Apprenticeship level 2/3 in Agriculture (SCQF level 5/6) to the apprentice and Ringlink employ the apprentices and place them with host employers in the land-based sector.

Apprentices will receive two training certifications/enhancements over the duration of 12 months. The Modern Apprenticeship content will be mainly completed in the workplace, with either very little or no college attendance required.

SRUC act as the training provider to deliver the MA and arrange work place visits throughout the placement. Ringlink will keep in touch throughout the duration of the placement both with the host employer and the apprentice, to offer support and guidance as required.

What are the benefits for the host employer?

Ringlink employ the apprentices, taking responsibility for all administration, payroll and holidays.

Flexible placement duration for apprentices aligned with the business needs. Typically, the minimum duration of work placement will be 4 months up to 8 months.

The apprentice can work for two host employers in the same week eg. 2 days/week with one employer, 3 days week with another employer- providing the employers are in close proximity for the apprentice to access.

What are the benefits for the apprentice?

Practical work-based learning option, gaining work experience and skills that employers want, whilst working towards a qualification (SCQF5/6/7) (SVQ2/3 )

Rates of pay:

Scottish Agricultural Wages Board rates as of 1st April 2018 state that all employees undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship are entitled to £5 per hour for up to 48 hrs per week.

Standard Pay rate for apprentices = £5 per hour(up to 48hrs/ week, 6 days at 8hrs.) Overtime rates are 1.5 times standard pay rate, £7.50 per hour apply for more than 8hrs in one day or when they exceed 48 hrs in the week.

This company is young, vibrant and forward thinking, looking for a suitable candidate to join ranks. Must be 16-19 years old, Nat5 min in Maths and English (bit of wiggle room here), lives reasonably local (10 mile radius), 37.5 Hours of work per week -  9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Annual salary for the 16-19 age range bracket will be £7,800 per annum, rising to £8,775 following completion of probation period. 12 month initially with the prospect of progress if successful.
